Due to the success of Carnaval Brasileiro 2009, some generous sponsors, and the excitement of all of you who witnessed this amazing event last February, I am happy to announce that we are once again bringing an authentic piece of Brazil to the Twin Cities
for just one evening on Friday, February 19th, 2010. This is a particularly special event, being the 10-year anniversary of our particular version of Brazilian Carnival!

I would like to thank all of you for your continued steadfast support and unbridled enthusiasm, and hope you can make it to this year's Brazilian Carnival celebration,
which I'm sure, with your help, will be the best ever
!

Brazilian "Carnaval" (car-nah-VOW), the biggest celebration
in the world, is coming to Minneapolis, MN once again!
We have put together a phenomenal 10-piece band especially for this event. Beira Mar Brasil, led by Robert Everest, with the help of our very special guests, has become one of the most engaging and authentic Brazilian bands in the Midwest. Once again in 2009 we are expanding to include a horn section, more heart-pounding hand percussion, and 3 very special Brazilian guests flying in to show Minneapolis an authentically Brazilian great time!!!

Dandara is an exuberant and dynamic singer who grew up in Bahia, Brazil, where she sang with Carnival group Banda Relogio. She has been singing this repertoire internationally for major festivals, including the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, and will be singing with us and dancing in her elaborate sambista
costumes - this will be her third year with us in Minneapolis!

The most recent additions to our Brazilian Carnival celebration, professional Samba dancers, Edilson Lima and Vanessa Dos Santos Luiz from São Paulo, Brazil, added incredible energy to Carnaval 2009, and we are very excited to have them back with us this year!! They are bringing even MORE elaborate costumes, and are looking forward to joining us again!

Those of you who have been a part of this celebration in
past years know that it is not something to be missed!!!

This year's Carnaval Brasileiro will take place for the first time at the FINE LINE MUSIC CAFE. It is a spacious venue with a great dance floor , plus a great sound system - a perfect venue for this event! Also there will be Brazilian food available, and bartenders will be trained in making Brazil's most popular drink, the famous "Caipirinha" (KIE-PEER-EEN'-YAH - to help you order one!) at a special $5 price for our event! There is a nearby ramp ($5.00) for your convenience, or you can park in one of the lots in the area.

This event is 21+, so my apologies to anyone who
can't make it due to age restrictions! :(

For those of you who don't have a costume, Goretti, a skilled artisan from Recife, Pernambuco in Northeastern Brazil is making authentic Brazilian Carnival Masks, which she also made for Carnival celebrations in Brazil for many years. She will have her own table and you can purchase a wide variety of masks the night of the event - to take home a truly authentic piece of
CARNAVAL
2009!

* NOTE: You will dance and warm up at this event so dress appropriately, in costume of course!
This is NOT Bossa Nova!
